The Board of Directors of Standing Watch supports
the recently announced position of Lieutenant Governor Frank Brogan with
respect to aquatic resource regulatory issues, and safeguarding public
access to the waters of the State of Florida. Lt. Governor Brogan echoed
Governor Bush’s remarks made to our Board members in Miami just
a week and a half ago.
"Specifically, we commend Lt. Governor Brogan's statement support
the City of Cape Coral, as their local officials work toward solutions
to regain permitting authority over docks in their jurisdiction. These
inititatives have negatively affected the regional economy, and have compromised
private property rights."
We are encouraged that the Governor and Lt. Governor have officially addressed
our issues, and we look forward to working with them following the election
on November 5th. The Board of Directors of Standing Watch has voted unanimously
to endorse the ticket of Bush / Brogan in the interests of sound resource
management, and public access to Florida waters.
Check www.standing-watch.org this afternoon for a message from Governor
Bush.
